TITLE DESIGN BLOG Our titles will be a mix of free floating and embedded, actors name’s and the movie title will be most likely be  embedded. With regards to what items, things like personal items, street signs, or store signs are good options. Most of the production related titles will be free-floating. This seems like a good idea to us since it will emphasize who’s on screen and who handled the background work. Having shots go to black in order to put focus on a text and build tensions in our scenes also seems like something to incoporate. In regards to font, our font needs to fit the story that we have, so something bolder would be best. Something like Gill Sans Ultra Bold, or STHupo. If we decided to go with something less bold then, Perpetua Tilting Mt would be a nice alternative. In regards to color, a black, white, or gray would be good, as a bright color would not fit, and may look garish. Overall, our titles should be with a bold or very serious looking font, and have a nuetra

We’re about to start the title design research portion of this project. Everyone seems really excited about this and we’re glad that this project is getting started up. When we were told that we were going to do title research, we were a little confused. We knew what was meant by “title design”, but we had no idea which movies had the titles we needed, and where we could watch them. Then one of our members found these websites! One of them is called “watchthetitles.com” and it has a plethora of titles for us to look at. The website  has lots of ways to organize your searches. The first way it has to access titles is through recommended titles, which seems to organize recent, or classic title designs. Another way is by individual designers or through studios, which could be useful for tracking trends within or between studios. You can also view all title sequences, or go by type. This type of organization is probably good for someone looking for some spontaneous inspiration. The type of

Movie: Spiderman(2002, starring Tobey Maguire)  Camera Movements and Angles  There are often close-ups on facial expressions and tracking shots to show characters moving throughout the scene. Establishing shots are combined with pans to emphasize said movement throughout the scene. Zooms in to show important objects getting closer, which create anticipation. Medium shots and medium close ups put focus on the characters whenever needed and extreme close ups used to show dramatic facial expressions.  Mis-En-Scene Costumes  Characters are either high schoolers, scientists, or military officials and dressed accordingly. Respectively, casual clothes, button-downs and lab coats, and green suits with various medallions.  Lighting Realistic and matches the scene. When the characters are outside, the sun is shown and the characters are lit by it. Acting Most characters in this movie act harshly towards the nerdy protagonist. When Parker gets sick, he acts faint and his eyes are wild, he eventua

Movie: TENET(2020) Camera Movements and Angles In this film, wide shots used to establish where the character(s) is. Medium shots to show where the character is and how they fit in and tracking shots are common and effective if a character is running throughout a scene, adding to the action-packed feeling. Close ups are used to show a character's facial expressions and over the shoulder shots that focus out of character whose shoulder is showing creates the feeling of focus on said other characters or objects. For fight scenes a variety of angles are used to enforce the intense movement the protagonist feels while fighting. Mis-En-Scene Costumes For costumes, characters often scene in military wear, casual clothes, or expensive high-class clothing, such as fancy suits or graceful dresses. Lighting The lighting matches the scene's atmosphere, so if the characters are outside, they will be lit by the sun. Lighting doesn't do much to reinforce any mood as it's realisti

Final Decision Blog

Image
Our final genre decision is an action film. An action film typically consists of an intense plot with the protagonist actively working towards a goal, usually enlisting the help of others. Fight scenes are also extremely common. Protagonists are often attacked when trying to reach their goals, during key points of the storyline. Another common theme of action films is the protagonist needing to step up to achieve their goals.  These common themes that run through the genre make it ideal for our pitch. In our pitch, our protagonist will be faced with a terrible situation. They will then have to step up in order to right the wrongs that have been made. We won’t be filming any fight scenes for this task, and our pitch may not include physical fights, but our protagonist is still fighting for something. Throughout this process, we did briefly consider a historical genre.  However, the mis-en-scene would have been less than optimal. We don’t have any access to historical clothing or histori

Pitches

Image
Pitch 1- A young Black girl witnesses the brutal murder of her best friend and goes on the path of getting justice.  This idea was suggested by myself-Kayla, and it seems interesting. It would be easy to pick a setting and costumes would be regular clothes, making it a simpler job. It would also be easy to access any practical effects needed, which would mostly involve blood. They would also need to involve atmospheric sounding, which will be discussed later. It would require a lot of planning to incorporate the required shots, but it is possible. One worrying aspect is a backup plan. If the weather does not cooperate we could just move to another day, but we’re unsure of how that would work out. The script wouldn’t pose much of an issue and props would be minimal. The editing would probably be standard difficulty.  Pitch 2- A group of friends decide to explore an abandoned toy factory. At first, it's fun, but the secrets unveiled prove to be fatal.   This pitch is also interesting
