Camera Angles and Movements
Wide shots to show multiple characters or an environment
Over-the shoulders
Close ups used sparingly(for important reveals or facial expressions)
Low angles
Long shots to show travel
Shots tend to be longer
Mis-En-Scene
C-costumes match the era
L-Nothing neon, usually outdoor or lamplight
A- speech also matches the time period, adherence to social norms
M- natural(little to none)
P-Old cars, books are common, old methods of communication(letters, radios, telegraphs), weaponry(depends on storyline)
S- Urban/cityscapes
SOUND
Soundtrack comes in during scenes with unimportant dialogue
Sound matches with mood of the scene
Diegetic sound comes from people and environments(water, footsteps, engine revs)
EDITING
Jump cuts
Zooms are often used to transition from an established environment to a single character
No super complicated editing, just cutting from shot to shot
Some favorable elements of this genre are the longer shots, which tend to be wide to show multiple characters. These are more practical. The genre itself also fits in with the pitch, due to the historical oppressions in this country. Some elements that will be difficult to manage are the clothing and common props, since we can’t have our cellphones for communication in scenes.
