A Little About Me
Hello, my name is Kayla Ferguson. Some things to know about me are, I love art, history( most of all African history), and football(soccer). Music is definitely a first love for me. It calms me whenever I get too anxious or just need to clear my mind. But, not only that...It fulfills my soul in a way that nothing else can. Music and some of my favorite artists have got me through some tuff times. Listening to music for me is more than just listening to a random artist say words that are just that...words. Albums nowadays to me aren't even albums because when I think of an album I think of a body of work that is not the same thing whether it be sounds or reiterating the same point over and over but has a sense of originality. Albums to me are a body of work not and in the words of Beyoncé herself "a whole bunch of quick singles that burn out". When I listen to a song from Beyoncé like Bigger that reminds me of my worth and that no matter what I am a part of something way bigger. Artists like Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj, and Solange inspire me on a daily to explore my artistic side. Paintings/drawings for me are ways for one to express one's self and are just as loud and hold the same weight if not more in some cases as words. I'm originally from Jamaica, so I grew up around football which is what we call soccer. My mother played netball which was close to the football field and my cousins played football themselves. Not to mention my father was a football coach. So, I guess you could say it was only natural for me to fall in love with the sport which I did although I did prefer track and field along with swimming over anything else. My favorite players are Crystal Dunn and Christen Press. They both play for the USWNT. I am taking the AICE Media Studies course because I wanted a class that would take some of the pressure off me and allows me to breathe. Not, only that I started to gain an Intrest in production. This came about after I watched " The Making of The Gift". "The Gift" is a studio album by Beyoncé and the soundtrack for "The Lion King" but also the movie "Black is King". I feel like AICE Media will allow me to venture more into my ever-growing artistic side.
